When the Container Terminal reassessed its infrastructure performance in 2019, the company identified a need to reduce energy consumption and improve lighting performance across their entire 250+ acre property.
The company approached Legend Energy Advisors seeking assistance with understanding the full field of technology available, associated costs and energy savings, as well as the performance opportunities.

The relatively limited history of high mast LED lighting technology has been rife with faulty or ineffective supply chains: warrantees held by unknown or untested producers in harder-to-reach foreign countries and hyper-evolving technologies that render recent installations obsolete or incompatible with existing infrastructure.
The latest technology, installed strategically

Legend not only used its prior expertise in lighting technology to inform its investigation of potential products but also conducted rigorous on-site testing of beam trajectory from large-scale machinery over 200 feet away to ensure safety standards and lighting quality were exceeded, maximizing productivity on site. Legend also used its market expertise to negotiate additional cost savings beyond minimizing energy usage by leveraging utility rebates to cover nearly 10% of the total project cost.
Legend ultimately replaced more than 2,000 high pressure sodium and plasma light fixtures with LEDs resulting in a 52% decrease in energy usage. This saves the Port $297k annually in energy and maintenance and reduces their carbon footprint by 1.1M tons of GHG annually making a significant impact on their ESG objective.
